The Wildlife Refuge is located on the Caribbean Coast near the Panamanian border and hosts unmatched biological wealth. The Refuge’s natural conditions make it an extremely interesting destination for scientists and for nature lovers. Additionally, one can experience how the Afro-Caribbean and indigenous cultures live in harmony with nature.
The Refuge’s estuary is one of the largest mangroves on the Caribbean Coast, which is home to manatee, caimans, otters and more. Many other types of animals can be seen in the Refuge including wild pigs, spotted cavy, and various species of monkeys, sloths, snakes and birds, etc.
