Trail Interpretation

The trail interpretation will be done on 9 to 11 kilometers of trail in Cahuita National Park. Beginning in the center of Cahuita town, you will walk to the Park entrance at Playa Blanca and take the trail that goes to Puerto Vargas. You will walk through various beaches where you can swim.
Some animals that are commonly seen on this trail are: two and three toed sloths, armadillos, white faced monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrels, different types of crabs, Morpho, Monarch and Heliconius butterflies. Boa constrictor snakes, Fer-de lance and other vipers, coral snakes and different non-poisonous snakes can also be seen. Birds that are commonly seen include various types of parrots woodpeckers, king fishers, falcons, osprey, herons, turkey and common vultures, and various marine birds. During the hike your guide will also point out various types of medicinal plants. The tour will end in Puerto Vargas where you will be picked up and returned to the hotel.

Required gear: Hat, sun block, insect repellent, tennis shoes or sandals, bathing suit, towel.
Duration: 5 hours, starting at 8:30am and returning to the hotel at 1:30pm
