TORTUGUERO

ONE DAY TOUR

Tour Schedule: Starts at 6:30 am and ends at 6:30 pm

ITINERARY

6:30 am: Departure from San Jose with a naturalist guide.

6:45 am: We start the journey by the road that goes through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, which shows nearly all varieties of native birds in Costa Rica.
In these steep forested mountains, live 6000 plant species (half of the plant species that exist in Costa Rica), of which at least 50 are endemic. Furthermore you can find nearly 515 species of birds (75% of the country and 28 are endemic), thousands of insects, and dozens of reptiles and amphibians.

7:45 am: Just ending the tour on the road above, we stop to enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast, including fruit, plantains, gallo pinto, eggs and coffee.

9:15 am: Here ends the journey by bus and we continued our journey by boat to Tortuguero National Park by a river that takes us through the jungle up to the canals. Tortuguero National Park is located in the north-eastern of Costa Rica and is one of the most famous parks at the international level as one of the most important locations for the nesting of
olive ridley turtle, leatherback and others. The wildlife in this area is very diverse, there is usually large populations of monkeys, amphibians, birds and fish. Resident wildlife includes tapirs, jaguars, grisons, sloths, frogs, macaws, toucans and bats. The flora in this region is also very diverse and abundant. Even some species are only found in these regions, including some palm trees, orchids and heliconias.

10:15 am: We arrive at the center of Tortuguero village, where our guide will give a short tour starting with the information center of the National Park to finish with a visit to the CCC (Caribbean Conservation Corporation). Later we will visit the famous Bocana, point where the canal joins the sea, and finally if the weather allows, we will go down at the Cerro of Tortuguero to see the beautiful view it offers and for those who desire, we will take a guided walk of 10 minutes to the hotel or back through the canal by boat for 25 minutes to the same point.

12:30 pm: Arrival at the Hotel which offers a delicious Costa Rican lunch.

1:30 pm: After lunch we have time to use the hotel facilities, which includes: swimming pool, bar, trails, beach, walks around or simply relax and enjoy the nature of the place.

3:00 pm: We begin the journey back to our capital city San Jose, first by river and then by land.
